Nutrition for Constipation

Dietary Principles:

 

*  Increase water consumption

 

*  Increase fiber (both soluble and non-soluble types)

 

*  Elimination/rotation diet

 

*  Rotation diet

 

*  Rotation diet expanded, especially if constipation alternates with    diarrhea

 

To Protect Against Constipation:

 

Increase cellulose and semi-cellulose foods in diet: fruits and vegetables

         

Therapeutic Foods:

 

Prunes soaked in water, flaxseed (1 Tbsp. ground on cereal or mixed with 1/2 glass of water or juice), whey, Black Mission figs soaked in water or fig juice, honey, very ripe bananas, tahini, sprouted seeds, alfalfa sprouts, raw apples, apricots, asparagus, beets, bok choy cooked with beets, burdock root, bamboo shoots, figs, cauliflower, carob, cabbage and Chinese cabbage, sauerkraut, green beans, grapefruit, pineapple, carrots, cherry, persimmons, Jerusalem artichokes, pears, quince, squash, pomegranates, currants, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, radishes, berries, spinach, and sweet potatoes.

 

Recommended Fresh Juices: (Try each one until you find a juice that benefits you.)

 

Celery with a little sweet cream

Spinach and grapefruit

Grapefruit (on an empty stomach in the morning)

Apple

Sauerkraut 

Carrot, cucumber, celery, beet with small amounts of watercress, spinach,   nettles, garlic, onions or dandelion

Mulberry

Honey mixed in warm water (on an empty stomach)

 

Try These Also; They May Help:

 

2-3 ripe bananas (on empty stomach in the a.m.)

 

1 oz. crushed black sesame seeds with a cup of hot water

 

Mix 2 Tbsp. raw potato juice and 1 Tbsp. honey with a little hot water (before breakfast on an empty stomach, for 30 days)

 

Add water to 3-4 dried figs and allow to stand for several hours until all       the water is absorbed; then add 1 Tbsp. ground sesame seeds and eat

          2 x day.

 

In the morning before eating, and in the mid-afternoon, pour 1 cup boiling    water over 2-3 tsp. of freshly ground flaxseed, then steep 10 minutes      and drink the tea at the top.

 

Combine a cup of dried mulberries and a cup of candied honey, add water and simmer until cooked.  Take as needed.

 

Fresh coconut - 2 x day 

 

Cook brown rice and spinach together.

 

Foods and Beverages to Avoid:

 

Avoids all foods that may cause intolerances, including salt, chocolate, cheese, blackberries, fried, starchy or spicy foods, white flour, refined and processed foods, coffee, tea, alcohol and any beverages containing caffeine.

 

Specific Supplements:

 

Multi-mineral supplement

 

Folic acid - up to 50 mg. a day 

 

Magnesium - 600-900 mg. a day

 

Vitamin B-complex - at least 75 mg.

 

Hydrochloric Acid - 5 - 80 grains per meal (Begin with 5 and very slowly       increase until you reach your level of tolerance.)

 

 

Essential fatty acids in tablet form

 

NOTE: YOUR MOTHER MAY HAVE GIVEN YOU MINERAL OIL AS A CHILD, BUT USED AS A LAXATIVE, IT INTERFERES WITH FAT SOLUBLE VITAMIN ABSORPTION.
