Nutrition for Eczema

Dietary Principles:

 

*  Maintain a high fiber diet

 

*  Elimination/rotation diet, rotation diet, rotation diet expanded

 

*  Correct low stomach acid

  

Therapeutic Foods:

 

Eat lots of vegetables, nuts, salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines, walnuts, flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil, black currant oil, black bass, rye, avocados, sea vegetables, whey, apples, cucumbers, millet, rice polishings, rice bran, sprouts, cabbage or huckleberry, potatoes, broccoli, dandelions, mung beans, seaweed, pearl barley, adzuki beans, cornsilk, water chestnuts, winter melon, watermelon and burdock.

 

Fresh Juices: (Try each one until you find a juice that benefits you.)

 

Carrot, celery, spinach, and parsley

Carrot, beet, and cucumber

Carrot, celery, lemon

Cucumber, endive, pineapple

Spinach

 

Specific Remedies to Eat and Drink:

 

Dandelion and cornsilk tea

Mung beans and pearl barley tea

Seaweed and winter melon soup

Adzuki beans, pearl barley, and cornsilk tea, plus solids, 3 x day

 

Add water to 1/4-1/2 cups pomegranate skin and simmer until it thickens;            use this to wash the affected area several times a day.

Add water to 1/2 cup mango skin and simmer; wash the affected area several        times a day.

Crush 1-2 cups pickled plums (soaked in vinegar), add water and simmer.    Use the liquid to wash the affected area several times a day.

Simmer the crushed shell of a fresh coconut in water.  Wash the affected    areas with this liquid 3 x a day.

Peel, seed, and crush unripe papaya and add 2 Tbsps. each of salt and vinegar.  Mix well, then strain and rub liquid on affected parts.

 

Foods and Beverages to Avoid:

 

Avoid any food that produces an intolerance; also dairy products, meat,  hot sauces, spicy, fried, fatty or salty foods, alcohol, coffee, and teas or colas that contain caffeine.

 

 

Specific Supplements:

 

EPO - 8-12 caps 1 x day.  Apply it topically (on the skin) on infants.

 

Vitamin A - 25,000 I.U. a day

 

Selenium - Take as directed.

 

Vitamin B-complex - 75 mg. tabs 1 x day

 

Chelated Zinc - 90-120 mg. a day. 

 

Chelated Copper - 25 mg. every 3 days

 

Quercetin - 500 mg. 3 x day, before meals

 

Vitamin E - 400 I.U. a day (Begin with 100 I.U. and slowly build up.)

 

Beta Carotene - 50,000 I.U. a day

 

Zinc Oxide - Apply topically (on the skin) with Vitamin E

 

HCl - 5-90 grains with meals. (Begin with 5 grains and increase slowly.  If you experience any burning, you are taking too much, and should drop back to your previous level.)
