Nutrition for Emphysema

Dietary Principles:

 

*  Maintain a moderately low fat diet.

 

*  Reduce low sugar.

 

*  Eat a lot of high complex whole carbohydrates.

 

*  Do not exceed 12-15% protein in your diet.

 

*  Go on a vegetarian cleansing diet or short fasts.

 

*  Eat plenty of foods rich in Vitamins A and E; yellow vegetables.

 

Therapeutic Foods:

 

Garlic, onions, leeks, turnips, grapes, pineapple, honey, and green leafy vegetables

 

Fresh Juices: (Try each one until you find a juice that benefits you.)

 

Carrot

Carrot, parsnip, potato, and watercress

 

Foods to Avoid:

 

Avoid any food that produces an intolerance, cow's milk and other dairy products, white bread, sugar and sweets, refined, processed, or catarrh-forming foods: oranges, tofu, tomatoes; meat, ice cream, shellfish

 

Specific Supplements:

 

Lecithin - 400 mg. 3 x  day

 

Vitamin E - 400 I.U. a day

 

Vitamin A - 50,000 I.U. a day

 

Chelated Zinc - 30 mg. 2 x day

 

Vitamin C - 3 grams a day

 

Flaxseed oil - 2 Tbsp. a day

 

Chelated Copper - 15 mg. a day
