Nutrition for Fibrocystic Breasts

Dietary Principles:

 

*  Maintain a complex carbohydrate, high fiber diet.

 

*  Limit protein to 10% of your total calories, fat to 22%.

 

Therapeutic Foods and Spices:

 

Citrus peels, beets, carrots, artichokes, lemons, parsnips, dandelion greens, watercress, burdock root, vegetables, nuts, seed oils, (Evening  primrose oil, flaxseed oil, black currant oil), sour foods, pumpkin seeds,

and tumeric

 

Fresh Juices: (Try each one until you find a juice that benefits you.)

 

Carrot and spinach

Carrot, beet, and cucumber

Lemon juice in warm water

 

Foods, Beverages and Medications to Avoid:

 

Oral contraceptives, meat, hot sauces, spicy, fried, fatty, or salty foods, caffeine, pesticides, methylxanthines: coffee, black tea, chocolate, colas,  and estrogenic foods: animal products, apples, cherries, olives, plums, carrots, yams, peanuts, soy products, coconut, brown rice, barley, oats, wheat, tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant.

 

Specific Supplements:

 

Vitamin E - 800 I.U. a day (Start at 200 I.U. and build up slowly over a 4       week period.)

 

Flax oil - 2 Tbsp. a day

 

Iodine - SSKI 30 mg. -  Available at health    food stores

 

MAX EPA - 1500 mg. 2 x day

 

Vitamin A - 25,000 a day

 

B-complex - 75 mg. 1 x day

 

Lipotropic factors as a supplement

 

Lactobacillus/Acidophilus: 1 x day (keep refrigerated)

 

Chelated zinc - 5 mg. a day

 

Chelated copper - 10-25 mg. a day

 

Pumpkin seeds (raw) - one handful a day
