Nutrition for Food Sensitivities

Nutrition

 

Dietary Principles:

 

*  Begin with a 24 hour liquid fast, then start an elimination diet.

 

*  Elimination/rotation diet, rotation diet, rotation diet expanded

 

*  Increase fiber to decrease bowel transit time.

 

Therapeutic Foods and Spices:

 

Increase omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids: vegetables, nuts, seed oils, (flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil, black currant oil - if these are tolerated well), salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines, walnuts, and dry cinnamon.

 

Foods to Avoid:

 

Avoid common allergens such as wheat, eggs, soy, chocolate, corn, citrus fruits and shellfish. (Use the elimination diet, then introduce each of these items 5 days apart to check for reactions;) rancid oils, chocolate,  sugar and sweets, fried, spicy or processed foods, MSG, saccharin, salt, alcohol, coffee, tea or colas that contain caffeine.

 

Specific Supplements:

 

Bioflavonoids: quercetin, hesperidin, catechin - as directed on bottle

 

Vitamin C - 3-4 grams per day

 

Vitamin E - 200-800 I.U. per day  (Start at 200 I.U. and gradually increase    to 800 I.U. over 4 weeks.)

 

Pantothenic Acid - 500 mg. a day

 

Vitamin B6 - 100-200 mg. per day

 

Selenium - 25 mcg. per day

 

Essential fatty acids (as liquids) - as directed on bottle

 

Cysteine - as directed on bottle

 

Methionine - as directed on bottle
