Nutrition for Gastritis (Inflamed Stomach)

Dietary Principles:

 

Acute Condition:

          Increase fluids

         

          Short fruit and vegetable juice fast

 

Chronic Condition:

 

          Elimination/rotation diet, rotation diet, rotation diet expanded

                  

          Eat in a relaxed atmosphere and chew food well.

 

Therapeutic Foods and Beverages:

 

Potato broth, parsnips (steamed and mashed), carob powder, okra, papayas, cooked carrots and other foods rich in vitamin A, chamomile and licorice tea

 

Fresh Juices:  (Try each one until you find a juice that benefits you.)

 

Coconut milk and carrot

Celery juice or broth

Mulberry

Raw potato

Carrot and spinach

Spinach

Carrot, beet, and cucumber

 

Absolutely Do Not Eat (Short Term):

 

Broccoli, cabbage and cabbage family, collards, and strawberries

 

Foods, Beverages and Medications to Avoid (Long Term):

 

Avoid anything that produces a food intolerance, meat, hot sauces, spicy, fried, fatty, salty, and processed foods, sugar and sweets, coffee, colas and teas that contain caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol, any beverage with meals, and aspirin.

 

 

Specific Supplements:

 

Raw potato juice before breakfast

 

Vitamin A - 25,000 I.U. a day

 

Vitamin B-complex - 75 mg. a day

 

Vitamin C - 1-2 grams a day

 

Vitamin E - 400 I.U. 2 x day. (Start with 200 I.U. and build up    to 400 I.U. over 2 weeks.)

 

Chelated Zinc - 60 mg. a day, with food

 

Flaxseed oil - 2 Tbsp. a day

 

Bromelain - 1,000 mg. a day

 

Lactobacillus acidophilus - as directed

 

Chelated Copper - 25 mg. a day
