Dietary Principles:
* Eat as little as possible; if nursing, eat steamed vegetables, fruits and juices.
* Increase foods rich in Vitamins C and A.
* Increase fluids.
* If you are not nursing, go on short (1 to 2 day) fasts.
Therapeutic Foods and Beverages:
Cooling foods such as cabbage, cucumbers, dandelions, lettuce, malt, lotus root, and plenty of water
Foods to Avoid:
Spicy, hot or high-protein foods, fats, meats, vinegars, shellfish, dairy products, sugar and sweets, coffee, teas and colas that contain caffeine, and alcohol
Specific Supplements:
Vitamin A - 50 to 100,000 I.U. a day in the acute stage, then decrease to 25,000 I.U. a day
Vitamin C - 500 mg. 4x a day
Chelated Zinc - 60 mg. a day
Chelated Copper - 10 mg. a day |
